Evaluation Q1 Script
SCRIPT
For our main brief we had to make an opening of a horror film I spent several hours watching horror films openings such as The Exorcist, Blade, The Ring, Women in black to see all the key features of horror:
Supernatural-Horror
Supernatural-Horror film is a sub-genre that includes ghosts, demons, or other depictions of supernatural occurrences. Often, Supernatural-Horror films combine elements of religion into the plot. Common themes in Supernatural-Horror films include the afterlife, the devil, and demonic possession. Unlike Religious Thrillers, Supernatural-Horror films are not limited to specific religious elements and can contain more vivid and gruesome violence. Examples: The Exorcist, The Ring, Women in black.
We decided to look at paranormal activity and we found that they use camera angles successfully for example in the opening they use handheld shots and P.O.V shots which gives the more intimacy and makes them feel like they are actually there filming it we used this shot because it is so successful for jump scares and the audience getting a thrill because they feel what the protagonist is feeling.
We decided to look at the orphanage for ideas of non-diegetic sounds like the car crashing into the old women and we decided to use diegetic sounds when the elevator was crashing down and we made sure that the sound was exaggerated which makes the audience heart race a little bit and shocks them we combined this with the diegetic sound of the headphones to establish realism and to make the audience increase enigma surrounding the events to follow
We decided to look at Blade for Mise en scene as in our main brief the costume for the protagonist was a black tracksuit with white shoes and then the antagonist was a women dressed all in black because black implies death or unknown this is because In the first scene of blade the door opens and there is a man dressed in all black and everyone when silent signifying the unknown
We decide to look at the women in black for credits because there was a sense of mystery and that suited our type of main brief as it was dark and the theme of death carries through the whole of the main brief
